Truck Mechanic

Repairs and maintains class A and B diesel trucks, autos and construction machinery. Diagnoses trouble, disassembles components and examines parts for defects and excessive wear. Reconditions and replaces parts, such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves, and bushings, using hand and power tools, and precision measuring instruments. Observes gauges, dials and operation of machinery to ensure proper performance. Moves heavy parts using hoists and dollies. Responds to equipment breakdowns and provides emergency road service. Operates Class A vehicles. Keeps accurate and complete documentation of repairs and preventative maintenance. May weld and cut parts using arc-welding and flame-cutting equipment, and operate engine lathe. May perform routine maintenance and housekeeping tasks in and around the garage. May assist with ordering or inventory of parts.
